Program Description:

The Engineering Technology Associate in Science degree programs prepare students for employment or provide additional training for persons employed in manufacturing and high technology industries. SFSC offers the Advanced Manufacturing specialization along with six college credit certificates: Mechatronics, Engineering Technology Support Specialist, Automation, Lean Manufacturing, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and Motors for Manufacturing and CNC Machinist.

The 18 credit hour technical core of this degree is closely aligned with the national Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) Certified Production Technician (CPT) industry certification. After completing this core, students will be prepared to take the MSSC assessment for the CPT Certification. Students who have already earned the MSSC-CPT will receive 15 articulated credit-hours towards the Engineering Technology degree. The Engineering Technology Associate in Science degree program is fully transferable to four year degree granting institutions. This degree will fully transfer to Daytona State College’s Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (BSET). That program prepares graduates for such jobs as systems engineer, process analyst, technical sales engineer, project engineer, and calibration engineer.

Relay Substation

Program Description

The Relay/Substation Tech Specialization provides students with the skills and knowledge to maintain and manage the transmission and distribution of power through electric utility systems. Coursework will cover theory in three phase power, protective relaying, power transformers, high voltage breakers, and electrical utility print reading and miscellaneous substation systems. Graduates with an A.S. in Engineering Technology with a specialization in Relay Substation Technology qualify for entry-level positions as a Relay Technician, Substation Electrician, or Field Service Engineer with utility companies, municipalities, oil fields, corporations and other heavy manufacturing industries that focus on instrumentation and control.

Quality Specialization provides training for the advanced quality-related positions in the medical and manufacturing industries. Program Information:

Polk State College offers a two-year Engineering Technology Associate in Science degree program that prepares students for employment in advanced manufacturing and high technology industries. Polk State currently offers the Advanced Manufacturing specialization as part of the program. The Engineering Technology Associate in Science degree program is fully transferable to four year degree granting institutions.
 
The 18 credit hour technical core of this degree is closely aligned with the national Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) Certified Production Technician (CPT) industry certification. After completing this core, students will be prepared to take the MSSC assessments for the CPT Certification. Students who have already earned the MSSC-CPT will receive 15 articulated credit-hours towards the Engineering Technology degree. Students that have completed their Journeyman Apprenticeship program at Mosaic as either Electrical-Instrumentation-Automation Technicians or as Mechanic-Millwright will receive 16 additional articulated credit-hours towards the Engineering Technology degree.
 

Engineering Technology Labs at Polk State College

 
The Engineering Technology degree program at Polk State has support equipment for several areas, mostly in the areas of automation, manufacturing and design. The lab consists of interconnected classrooms and laboratories that allow for hands on exercises with classroom lessons. Equipment used to support automation, production control, troubleshooting, and engineering design include: state of the art PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) trainers from Rockwell Automation, LogixPro PLC simulation software, hydraulic and pneumatic training stations, metrology equipment, industrial controls, electric motors and motor controls, a controlled and instrumented fluid transfer pilot plant, and a CAD computer lab running the most recent version of AutoCAD.

Program Information:

The Engineering Technology AS degree at Northwest Florida College offers a planned sequence of instruction tailored specifically for four specializations:  Mechanical Design and Fabrication, Digital Design and Modeling Advanced Technology, and Digital Manufacturing. NWFSC also offers five specializations that are part of the above specialized tracks.  NWFSC College’s ET Degree supports a broad range of high tech manufacturing and high tech industry sectors including aviation and aerospace, electronics, metal fabrication, automated production and precision machinery.
